ASERF Congenital and Acquired Breast Deformity Grant Program

ASERF (Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation) is pleased to announce a call for grant applications specific to congenital and acquired breast deformities for patients needing financial assistance.

As you know, many young women experience congenital breast deformities as they mature into womanhood, while others may develop deformities after childbearing or after dramatic weight loss. Those who have breast deformities often feel self-conscious and have difficulty finding clothes to mask their breast deformities and these factors can negatively affect their feelings of self worth.

The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF), the research arm of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), has been quietly funding research projects for more than 15 years.  In that time, ASERF has learned that many of our members have been approached for a reduction in services/fees to assist women whose main goal is to feel and look “normal.”  While our members are more than happy to assist when and where they can, it also means that the surgeon must ask his or her surgical team to also work at a reduced rate.

The Congenital and Acquired Breast Program is a grant process that will provide an opportunity for ASAPS surgeons to facilitate a process that could allow for financial assistance to patients with breast deformities and who require financial assistance.
